The position is funded by the international ITEA funded project ModelWriter. You will work in an innovative environment with a motivated small team and you will be able to manage parts of your work autonomously, being able to influence and shape your daily work. THEME: Data-to-Text Processing (analysis and generation) Funded by the ITEA ModelWriter Project Main topic: Semantic Analysis and Natural Language Generation DESCRIPTION: The ModelWriter project aims to develop technologies for synchronising documentation and model changes in technical documentation. As part of the project, your job will be to discuss, implement and evaluate NLP technologies for converting text to formal models (semantic parsing) and formal models to text (natural language generation). QUALIFICATIONS: University Degree in Computer Science or Computational Linguistics Excellent proven programming skills in Java Previous experience in the field of natural language processing and/or machine learning is highly beneficial Ability to work independently, think analytically, and act in an effective and efficient goal-oriented way; ability to turn sketched concepts into a production-ready implementation Flexible and self-driven team-player with excellent interpersonal skills Ability to work with colleagues locally and remotely in multi-national teams Good written and verbal language and communication skills in English WORK EXPERIENCE Suitable candidates will be able to demonstrate expertise in at least one of the following fields: - Software Engineering - Natural Language Processing - Previous experience working in EU-funded, collaborative research projects The selected candidate will be working in collaboration with the members of the Synalp team (http://talc1.loria.fr/synalp/stories/about.html), a Research Group in Computational Linguistics. Synalp research focuses on hybrid, symbolic and statistical approaches to natural language processing and applications built thereon, including NLP for Man-Machine Dialog, for language learning and for Data Verbalisation.
