R&D Natural language processing

Location: Geneva Switzerland
Type: fulltime, undetermined contract
Starting date: upon availability with preference in February 2015

HON is offering services to citizens, medical professionals and health
care providers. The HON development team makes HON services available to 
millions of users in order to access health websites respecting a set of 
quality criteria: the HONcode. The team combines software development, 
system administration expertise in a cloud environment to run 
multilingual services available in 102 countries. We are looking for R&D 
in Natural Language Processing with the interest in multilingual/ 
cross-lingual aspects of information retrieval, text classification and 
semantic search.

Basic Qualifications:

Postgraduate degree (PhD) in Computer Science with deep knowledge of
Information Retrieval, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Applied Statistics 
and Web Search.

Essentials:

    - At least 4 years of experience in research and development
    - Experience in multilingual/ cross-lingual natural language
      processing
    - Knowledge of Information Retrieval and search relevance techniques
    - Experience with semantic search
    - Strong knowledge of search engine operations and functionality
    - Experience with following: Solr, Perl, SQL, NoSQL, Java,
      javascript, R
    - Experience using machine learning and statistical techniques to
      create scalable natural language processing systems
    - Strong analytical and excellent problem solving skills
    - Applied Agile methodology experience & continuous
      testing/integration
    - String written and verbal English and French communication skills

    - Ability to deal with ambiguous and undefined problems
    - Ability to communicate and discuss technical topics with both
      technical and non-technical audiences
    - Capable of working independently and in small teams
