Job title: Junior Linguist [French] (multiple positions) Linguistic field(s): Phonetics, Phonology Job location: Remotely within France Job description: The role of the Junior Linguist is to annotate and review linguistic data in French (France). The Junior Linguist will also contribute to a number of other tasks to improve natural language processing. The tasks include: - Providing phonetic/phonemic transcription of lexicon entries - Analyzing acoustic data to evaluate speech synthesis - Annotating and reviewing linguistic data - Assisting with voice talent casting - Script proofreading and recording quality control - Labeling text for disambiguation, expansion, and text normalization - Annotating lexicon entries according to guidelines Minimum Requirements: - Native-level speaker of French (France) and fluent in English - Extensive knowledge of phonetic/phonemic transcriptions and experience with annotation - Basic knowledge of phonetics, phonology, morphology or lexicography - Excellent oral and written communication skills - Attention to detail and good organizational skills Desired Skills: - Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics or Phonetics - Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house tools - Keen interest in technology and computer-literate - Ability to capture and interpret phonetic nuances through listening - Fast and Accurate Keyboard Typing Skills - Familiarity with prosodic analysis and annotation - Editing, Grammar Check and Proofing Skills - Research Skills Project duration: Approximately 6 months starting as soon as possible This is not a permanent position but a full-time contract position.
