intelligence and big data, Nunki.co provides real-time early alerts

We are developing a technology-intensive solution to structure real-
time global information. These data enable media, security, logistics
and market finance key players to make better decisions.

Our technology continuously analyses large amounts of live data (social
networks, web via crawlers, APIs, etc.) 24/7 to detect as quickly as
possible the occurrence of major and inherently unpredictable events:
attacks, accidents, natural & industrial disasters, health crises, etc.

Job Description

As part of the development of its technology, Nunki is looking for a
PhD with the "Jeune Docteur" status that has a strong backgroun
d in NLP and/or Information Retrieval. Therefore, your thesis must have
been written in one of these fields.

We already built strong ML/DL foundations allowing us to do event
classification, threat/hatespeech classification, topic classification,
semantic clustering, named entity linking, sentiment analysis, machine
translation and speech recognition. As we are quickly growing, we are
looking for a new data scientist with an academic background to help us
tackle our next challenges and build one of the best NLP technology
worldwide.

As a member of the Data Science team, you will collaborate closely with
our Head of Data Science to find the best solutions for Nunki. Your
objectives will include improving our current models, proposing and
developing new solutions, and keeping our technology up-to-date with
the latest advancements.

Nunki's research topics are broad, covering most of the NLP field, with
the added challenge of processing real-time data streams as quickly as
possible. You may also have the opportunity to work on projects related
to computer vision and speech recognition, as we plan to increase our
focus on multimodal models. Additionally, you will continue to work on
existing collaborations with the LIRIS/INSA Lyon and the BRGM, while
also establishing new partnerships with other academic research labs.

Required Profile

Technical Skills:
- PhD in Computer science, specialized in NLP or IR,
- Very strong knowledge about ML/DL technologies: CNNs, LSTMs,
Attention Mechanisms, Transformers, LLMs should have no secret for you,
- A very good experience in deep learning approaches applied to NLP,
- Good programming skills in Python and good knowledge of PyTorch (or
Tensorflow) is a must,
- An understanding of Linux and basic knowledge of Docker are welcomed.

Soft-Skills:
- Very curious, problem-solving should be your passion.
- You are always on the lookout for the latest developments, ready to
learn from others and from your experiences (but also from new papers,
books, events, training courses, etc.), but also share your knowledge
with others.
- Someone who wants to be part of a great and growing team to make a
valuable contribution.
- Correct English or, if you don't speak French well, a good English is
required.
