*Job Description* Artificial Intelligence is transforming the energy industry to the next level. In Schlumberger, we provide solutions enriched with powerful AI and industry-leading analytics. Are you an engineering or a MS student interested in a 2021 Artificial Intelligence Internship in the field of NLP? Do you enjoy tackling challenging problems with researchers, engineers and domain experts? If this describes you, come join our AI Lab team at Schlumberger. As an Artificial Intelligence Engineer intern, you will have access to large textual data from well construction business line. You will explore different kinds of natural language processing methods (as listed below) for unstructured-to-structured data processing. The main goal of the internship is to build a cumulative foundation of domain work applied to NLP, benefiting well construction projects. * Statistical based methods: You will start with traditional rule-based methods (e.g. regular expression and keyword searching) and statistical based algorithms (e.g. TF-IDF and n-grams). Then we analyze the results and collect the feedback from domain experts for a better understanding of the data, the domain knowledge and the potential challenges. * Transformer-based methods: You will explore the idea of applying unsupervised models, especially the pretrained language models such as BERT and DistilBERT, to oil and gas data. Besides, developing a hybrid system by combining traditional rule-based methods and deep learning embedding-based models is also one direction to explore. * Graph-based methods: Graph representation learning for scanned document analysis has attracted more and more attention in the area of information retrieval research. You will make an overview of the current state of the art with NLP researchers from the Lab. * Essential Responsibilities and Duties* * The responsibilities will be to research the state of the art in this domain which could be applied to deliver the required outcome. * The candidate will learn the latest and greatest in the context of our described challenge. * Research, Model, Solution and Report will be part of the deliveries for this project. * Additional opportunities to produce recorded webinars and marketing 2 min recording pitches will most likely occur during the internship. *Qualifications* * End studies internship, master student or engineering school student * Competencies and skills* * Skills: applied mathematics, probability & statistics, natural language processing models like LSTM, GRU, Attention, NLP libraries like SpaCy, etc. * Programming language: Python, PyTorch or Keras/Tensorflow *Duration* 5/6 months, ideally starting from April or May 2021. *Place* Working from home & Onsite meeting once per week at Schlumberger Riboud Product Center in Clamart (flexible depending on intern needs). *Gross monthly gratification* 1500 euros *Contact* Zheng ZHANG (zzhang54@slb.com), Schlumberger AI Lab Please send your CV to Zheng Zhang's email address.
