----- Title : Interpretable Natural Language Processing for Court Decisions Prediction Context : Understanding and predicting judicial decisions is a major scientific and economic challenge. This project is a multi-disciplinary collaboration between 3 laboratories in Grenoble (CRJ, TIMC, LIG) that aims at designing *interpretable* NLP systems that predict the decisions made by a court, using recent state-of-the-art methods (FlauBERT). Tasks of the internship: 1. Literature review on legal NLP 2. Implementing and evaluating a FlauBERT-based classifier on a dataset of 1000 court rulings (annotated by CRJ lawyers). 3. Carry on an analysis of the classifier's behaviour with classical methodology (error analysis) and more recent interpretability methods (Atanasova et al. ACL 2020).
